Southern California Edison
Southern California Edison serves about 5.3 million customers across central, coastal, and southern California. For EV drivers, SCE pairs a whole-house residential time-of-use rate optimized for electrification (TOU-D-PRIME) with a Charge Ready Home rebate that covers electrical panel upgrades (up to $4,200) or an outlet-only install (up to $1,000) for income-qualified and disadvantaged-community customers. The commercial and multifamily Charge Ready program suite is no longer accepting applications, and agreements must be fully signed by December 31, 2026. SCE also runs a managed-charging pilot called Charge Smart SoCal in partnership with WeaveGrid, open to drivers in select Gateway Cities ZIP codes.

Charge Ready Home (panel upgrade and EV outlet)
Up to $4,200
SCE residential customers with a main electrical panel under 200 amps that cannot support Level 2 charging, who either live in a household earning under 80 percent of area median income (or enrolled in a qualifying public assistance program) or live in a disadvantaged community (top 25 percent under SB 535). The rebate funds a panel of 200 amps or higher plus a dedicated 240V Level 2 outlet within 25 feet of dedicated off-street parking, and the customer must install a Level 2 charger within 180 days of receiving the rebate. The rebate does not cover the charger itself. Renters need property owner approval.

Charge Ready Small Site Rebate
Up to $10,000 per port (max four ports per site)
Non-residential SCE customers at multifamily or commercial properties installing up to four Level 2 EV charging ports. Equipment must be on SCE's Approved Product List. SCE's page states that Charge Ready applications are no longer being accepted and that agreements must be fully signed by December 31, 2026.

SCE designs and installs the utility-side and customer-side electrical infrastructure at no additional cost to the participant, or the participant builds the customer-side work and receives a rebate of up to 80 percent of SCE's estimated cost for it. Multifamily properties in qualifying disadvantaged communities can also receive a Maintenance and Networking Rebate.
Multifamily, commercial, and public-sector property owners or managers within the SCE service territory installing four or more EV charging station ports. Participants buy and install the charging equipment themselves, operate and maintain it for 10 years, use separate dedicated metering on a time-of-use rate, enroll in a qualifying demand response program, and share networked usage and pricing data with SCE. SCE's page states that Charge Ready applications are no longer being accepted and that agreements must be fully signed by December 31, 2026.

Up to $3,500 per port
Developers of new multifamily properties in development or with a certificate of occupancy after January 1, 2017. Funds customer-side make-ready electrical infrastructure plus Level 2 EV charging stations beyond CalGreen code requirements, not to exceed the project's actual cost. Equipment must be on SCE's Approved Product List. The application window closed on July 12, 2025, and SCE's page states that applications are no longer being accepted; agreements must be fully signed by December 31, 2026.

Charge Smart SoCal
A three-year managed-charging pilot launched by SCE in partnership with WeaveGrid and supported by the California Energy Commission. WeaveGrid schedules home EV charging for low-cost periods. Open to SCE customers in select Gateway Cities ZIP codes, between Los Angeles and Orange County, who drive a Tesla or use a ChargePoint, Emporia, or Wallbox home charger and are not enrolled in another utility managed-charging program. WeaveGrid's launch announcement states a goal of enrolling at least 3,000 EV drivers.
$50 enrollment reward plus $50 per year of continued participation, paid as gift cards; participants can un-enroll at any time. WeaveGrid's announcement also lists an extra $50 sign-up incentive for qualifying low-income participants.
SCE offers a residential whole-house TOU rate (TOU-D-PRIME) designed for EV, storage, and heat-pump customers, with a 4pm to 9pm evening window priced highest on summer weekdays, a lower mid-peak price in that same window on summer weekends and in winter, and off-peak pricing at all other hours. Customers attest to qualifying equipment at enrollment; those moving from an older TOU-D-A, TOU-D-B, or TOU-D-T plan do not need to re-attest. SCE also publishes a family of separately metered commercial EV rates (TOU-EV-7, 8, and 9). SCE states that demand charges for TOU-EV-8 and TOU-EV-9 are currently not applicable until determined and authorized by the Commission, and TOU-EV-7's two options currently carry a $0 per kW Facilities-Related Demand charge under the filed schedule.
The Charge Ready Home rebate pays up to $4,200 for an electrical panel upgrade plus a 240V EV outlet (or up to $1,000 for an outlet only, when the panel is already 200 amps or higher) for income-qualified households and customers in disadvantaged communities, with the requirement that panel-upgrade customers install a Level 2 charger within 180 days of receiving the rebate. On the commercial and multifamily side, the Charge Ready suite is no longer accepting applications: Small Site paid up to $10,000 per port (max four ports per site) for sites running approved equipment, New Construction paid up to $3,500 per port for multifamily properties going beyond CalGreen code, and SCE states that agreements must be fully signed by December 31, 2026. The Charge Smart SoCal managed-charging pilot through WeaveGrid pays $50 at enrollment plus $50 per year of continued participation, currently focused on EV drivers in the Gateway Cities region.
SCE serves about 5.3 million customers across central, coastal, and southern California, a footprint that includes both high-density urban areas and remote desert and mountain counties. Customers planning long overnight charging in high fire-risk areas should account for Public Safety Power Shutoffs, which SCE says may last over 24 hours. Because SCE says TOU-EV-8 and TOU-EV-9 demand charges are not applicable only until the Commission determines and authorizes them, commercial sites should treat later-year costs as uncertain and not assume the energy-only structure continues indefinitely.
