Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE)

BGE's residential EV option is the Vehicle Charging Time-of-Use Rate, billed under Rider 6 of BGE's electric tariff. Instead of moving the whole house to a time-based rate, it bills only the enrolled EV or smart charger's usage at time-of-use supply rates while the rest of the home stays on the standard residential rate. Peak hours are 10am to 8pm on summer weekdays and 7am to 11am plus 5pm to 9pm on weekdays the rest of the year; nights, weekends, and listed holidays are off-peak, so the rate fits drivers who can let the car charge overnight.

BGE does not currently offer a residential charger rebate, and its residential program list no longer includes one. Residential drivers today pair the Vehicle Charging Time-of-Use Rate with Smart Charge Management, which pays monthly bill credits for letting BGE schedule charging; the two can be enrolled at the same time and their savings add together. On the commercial side, the EVsmart Fleet Program covers part of the make-ready and charger costs for businesses electrifying a fleet; it is separate from the residential programs.

BGE is an Exelon company and the regulated utility for central Maryland. The time-of-use supply rates are set by the Maryland Public Service Commission and can change periodically, and BGE's program terms say it can modify the program at any time, so check BGE's program pages before planning around a specific credit or rebate. BGE's electric territory covers Baltimore City and parts of the surrounding counties, so confirm your address is served by BGE rather than a neighboring utility before enrolling.
