We Energies offers a residential time-of-use rate, schedule Rg-2, that an EV owner can use to charge cheaply overnight. Customers pick one of four 12-hour weekday on-peak windows (7am to 7pm, 8am to 8pm, 9am to 9pm, or 10am to 10pm), and every hour outside that window, including weekends and the major legal holidays named in the tariff, is off-peak. As of January 1, 2026, the on-peak energy charge is 30.084 cents per kWh and the off-peak energy charge is 10.028 cents, before a small per-kWh fuel cost adjustment and environmental control charge and a daily customer charge, so overnight charging runs about a third of the on-peak price. Prices are set in tariffs approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin and reset each year, so customers should confirm the current numbers before enrolling. The standard residential rate Rg-1 is the default for customers who do not switch.

The residential EV pilot stacks on top of whichever residential rate a customer already has, Rg-1 or Rg-2. It pays a bill credit on all household electricity used between midnight and 8am daily, capped at 400 kWh per month, and is open only to owners of all-electric vehicles who own and live in a separately metered home. The credit is larger on the standard rate than on time-of-use because the time-of-use rate already discounts off-peak hours. There is no residential rebate for buying or installing a home charger. The business EV charger pilot is separate and aimed at fleet, workplace, and public sites, covering utility upgrade costs and possible facility wiring rebates.

We Energies is an investor-owned utility in an integrated, regulated market, so customers cannot shop for a competing electricity supplier. Rates and pilot terms are filed with and approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, and both EV programs are filed as experimental pilots rather than standard rate offerings. Availability and credit amounts can change, so customers should verify the program is still open before planning around it.
