Versant Power

Versant Power offers an optional residential time-of-use rate on the delivery portion of your bill, called Home Eco. On weekdays the on-peak periods run 7am to 12pm and 4pm to 8pm, with a shoulder period from 12pm to 4pm; off-peak runs 8pm to 7am, and weekends and holidays are shoulder or off-peak. Charging overnight or on weekends falls in the cheaper off-peak window. The tariff on file is the Bangor Hydro District's; Versant's EV page says the rate reaches the Maine Public District after its meter replacement project, while its Eco Rates page lists both districts, so confirm availability with Versant. A separately metered Home Eco with Bonus Meter option lets EV charging and battery storage bill on the time-of-use rate while the rest of the home stays on a standard rate.

Versant does not run its own EV charger rebate or managed-charging program. The statewide Efficiency Maine Trust administers EV charger incentives across both Maine utility territories. Its off-peak charger incentive discounts a qualifying charger by $200 at purchase plus $200 after setup. Efficiency Maine ran a residential managed-charging program with a $50 enrollment payment in 2024, but it is no longer listed on Efficiency Maine's current EV incentives page and its program page no longer loads, so do not count on it. Versant's Home Eco rate applies to delivery only and is separate from Efficiency Maine programs, and enrollment in each is separate.

Maine is a restructured electricity market; Versant is a pure transmission and distribution utility and does not sell generation. Your energy supply comes from the standard offer or a competitive supplier, and the Home Eco rate applies only to the delivery charge, not the supply price. That regulatory structure is why most EV-related incentives in Versant territory carry the Efficiency Maine name rather than the utility's.
