Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative

Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative does not publish an EV-specific time-of-use rate. Residential members are billed on the co-op's standard residential delivery rate, a flat year-round rate that does not vary by hour of the day, so the co-op's own pricing does not reward overnight charging. A separate seasonal residential rate option exists for some accounts. Maine is a restructured electricity market, so the co-op bills the delivery charge while your energy supply comes from the standard offer or a competitive supplier, and neither component is set up as an EV charging rate.

EMEC does not run its own EV charger rebate or managed-charging program. The statewide Efficiency Maine Trust administers EV charger incentives across both Maine utility territories. Its off-peak charger incentive gives an instant discount when you buy a qualifying off-peak Level 2 charger plus a setup completion bonus once it is activated, for up to $400 total; the charger pauses during the peak window of 5pm to 9pm on weekdays. Income-qualified Mainers can stack a separate Efficiency Maine vehicle rebate. There is no co-op program to enroll in or exclude.

EMEC is a small consumer-owned cooperative in rural Washington County and surrounding areas, distinct from Maine's two large investor-owned transmission and distribution utilities, Central Maine Power and Versant. Because charger and vehicle rebates are run by Efficiency Maine statewide, an EMEC member applies through the same Efficiency Maine programs as a customer in Portland or Bangor; the co-op's role is limited to delivery service. Efficiency Maine's larger commercial and multifamily charger rebate is geographically targeted and may not reach all of EMEC's rural footprint.
