Central Maine Power offers an optional residential time-of-use rate on the delivery portion of your bill. On-peak hours run from 5pm to 9pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays; all other hours, including weekends and holidays year-round, are off-peak. Under the schedule effective July 1, 2026, the delivery charge is about 42.9 cents per kWh on-peak and 6.1 cents off-peak, plus a $24.18 monthly service charge. Charging overnight or on weekends falls in the cheaper off-peak window. CMP says customers generally save on the delivery portion of the bill only if at least 86 percent of their total electricity use falls in off-peak hours, so the rate suits households that can shift most of their usage out of the weekday evening window. Enrolling may require a meter exchange; check CMP's enrollment page for current terms before switching.

CMP does not run its own EV charger rebate program, and AFDC lists no open CMP incentives. The Efficiency Maine Trust instead runs a statewide off-peak charger incentive that pays a $200 instant discount at purchase plus a $200 set-up completion bonus once the charger is activated. These chargers pause charging during the same weekday 5pm to 9pm window by default, which pairs with CMP's TOU delivery rate. Enrollment in each program is separate.

Maine is a restructured electricity market; CMP is a pure transmission and distribution utility and does not sell generation. Your energy supply comes from the standard offer or a competitive supplier, and CMP's TOU rate applies only to the delivery charge, not the supply price. That regulatory structure is why most EV-related incentives in CMP territory carry the Efficiency Maine name rather than the utility's.
