Ohio Edison does not publish an EV-specific time-of-use rate. Residential customers with a FirstEnergy-installed smart meter can instead opt into the voluntary Time-of-Day Option under the Generation Service Rider, a PUCO-approved time-varying rate split into three periods: midday peak, shoulder peak, and off peak. EV owners use it by charging overnight and on weekends, when the off-peak period applies. The exact cents-per-kWh prices rotate with the generation rider and are not published as fixed values, so confirm current pricing before enrolling.

Ohio Edison does not have a confirmed utility-funded rebate for home or commercial EV charging equipment on its own pages, so there is no rebate that stacks with the Time-of-Day Option. The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (30C), which customers previously relied on for charger costs, ended June 30, 2026 and is no longer available. The Time-of-Day Option itself requires a FirstEnergy-installed smart meter and that you take generation from the utility rather than a competitive supplier.

Ohio is a deregulated electricity market, so Ohio Edison handles distribution while generation can come from a competitive retail supplier. The Time-of-Day Option is a generation-side rate, which means it only applies to customers who buy generation from the utility under the Standard Service Offer and not to those who have switched to a competitive supplier. This is the single most important caveat for an EV owner: shopping for a third-party supplier removes you from the time-varying rate.
