Evergy Kansas South does not appear as a named eligible territory in the residential EV charging rebate or the Nights and Weekends time-of-use rate that Evergy markets on evergy.com. The programs were approved in December 2021 following a KCC proceeding in which all three Evergy Kansas entities, including Kansas South, were co-applicants. The rebate terms and conditions published since March 2022 and as of 2026 name only Evergy Kansas Central and Evergy Kansas Metro territories, and the November 2023 rate case settlement that formally introduced the Nights and Weekends TOU rate also applied only to those two entities. Customers in the Kansas South service territory (Wichita and surrounding south-central Kansas) should contact Evergy to confirm whether they are currently eligible before installing a Level 2 charger.

No separately published residential rebate or managed-charging program applies specifically to the Evergy Kansas South service territory based on sources reviewed as of June 2026. The Phase 2 Transportation Electrification Portfolio filed in January 2025 (docket 25-EKCE-169-TAR), in which Kansas South is a named applicant, covers commercial Fleet Advisory Services and a residential managed-charging pilot called the RMC Pilot, but those programs had not been approved by the KCC as of the research date. If the KCC approves the Phase 2 programs, Kansas South residential customers may gain access to a managed-charging incentive for the first time.

Evergy Kansas South is a vertically integrated investor-owned utility regulated exclusively by the Kansas Corporation Commission; Kansas is not a deregulated retail electricity market. Kansas South files its base rate cases jointly with Evergy Kansas Central, confirmed by the 2025 rate case (docket 25-EKCE-294-RTS), which resulted in an approved $128 million revenue increase effective October 2025. The close regulatory integration between Kansas South and Kansas Central means customers in both territories are governed by the same KCC proceedings, but the program-specific terms published on evergy.com may lag the regulatory record and should be verified directly with Evergy.
