Salt River Project (SRP)

Salt River Project serves about 1.17 million electric customers in the Phoenix metro area as a public power utility governed by its own elected board, not the Arizona Corporation Commission. SRP offered an EV-specific time-of-use plan (the Electric Vehicle Price Plan, E-29) that is now closed to new enrollment, and it still offers an EV Export Price Plan for solar customers plus a $250 residential Level 2 charger rebate. Its larger commercial and multifamily charger rebates run through the Business EV Charging Program.

SRP's EV-specific Electric Vehicle Price Plan is a time-of-use rate built around a super off-peak window from 11pm to 5am year-round, when charging is cheapest. That plan is now closed to new enrollment and will be discontinued after the November 2029 billing cycle, so current enrollees keep it until then but new EV owners cannot sign up. New residential customers instead choose a standard time-of-day plan such as Conserve 6-9 p.m. and Save, where on-peak runs weekday evenings 6pm to 9pm and overnight charging falls in the cheaper off-peak hours. Exact per-kWh prices change by season and through periodic adjustments.

SRP residential customers can get a $250 instant rebate on a new Level 2 charger, with a limit of two chargers per account over five years and an application due within 90 days of purchase. This rebate is separate from the price plan you choose; you can take it on any residential plan. The EV Community bill credit that once supplemented these programs closed on March 9, 2026. Commercial, multifamily, nonprofit, school and government sites use a separate track, the Business EV Charging Program, which pays larger per-port amounts than the residential rebate.

SRP is a political subdivision of Arizona governed by its own publicly elected board, not the Arizona Corporation Commission, so it sets its own rates and program rules directly. For solar customers who also drive an EV, the Electric Vehicle Export Price Plan carries no monthly demand charge and credits exported solar at a fixed 3.45 cents per kWh, which shapes how overnight charging and daytime solar interact differently than on a standard plan.
