AES Indiana (Indianapolis Power & Light Company)

AES Indiana does not offer an enrollable EV-specific time-of-use rate. Its former EV rate, Rate EVX, closed to new applications after February 29, 2024, and new customers can no longer sign up. Residential EV owners are billed on the standard Rate RS residential service and are pointed instead toward the utility's charging rewards programs, which pay you to shift charging to overnight hours rather than charging you a separate per-kWh EV rate. Customers who want lower overnight costs get them through rewards, not through a dedicated rate.

The rebates and the rewards programs are designed to stack. A residential customer who buys a qualified Level 2 charger through the AES Indiana Marketplace and enrolls in Managed EV Charging Rewards gets a $150 enrollment reward plus a $100 instant rebate at checkout, up to $250 combined. The two enrollment tracks are mutually exclusive: Managed EV Charging Rewards pays $150 to enroll plus up to $50 a year while AES Indiana controls charging during peak events, while Off-Peak EV Charging Rewards pays $150 to sign up plus $0.05 per kWh, capped at $100 a year, if you self-schedule charging between 10 PM and 6 AM. The $100 instant rebate applies only to chargers bought through the AES Indiana Marketplace under the Managed track. The commercial rebate is a separate fleet-focused program.

Indiana is a vertically integrated, regulated electricity market overseen by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, not a deregulated retail-choice state, so AES Indiana is the single provider of both delivery and supply in its territory and you cannot shop for a competing EV rate. The commercial rebate of $6,000 per port is also narrow: it applies to Level 2 or DC fast chargers under 50 kW that serve commercially owned and operated fleet vehicles, and it excludes chargers placed mainly for employee or customer personal-use commuter charging.
