Colorado Regulates Public Chargers Like Gas Pumps, ChargePoint and Onvo Bring Ultra-Fast Charging to 12 Northeast Travel Plazas, and Pilot Crosses 300 Fast-Charging Locations

Colorado's new retail EV charging regulations took effect July 1: public chargers that bill by the kilowatt-hour must now display price and energy delivered and register with the state, the same oversight category as gas pumps, with enforcement starting July 1, 2027. ChargePoint and travel plaza operator Onvo announced a partnership on July 13 to bring 500 kW Express Plus chargers to 12 sites along Pennsylvania and New York highways. In the same week, Pilot Travel Centers crossed 300 DC fast-charging locations and GM-backed Ionna crossed 120, both milestones in the highway travel-center charging buildout. And new Q2 data shows US EV sales stabilizing, up 14.7% from Q1 but still down 20.5% from a year earlier.

Illinois Opens a $30 Million NEVI Round, JCP&L's Charger Incentives Close July 15, WattEV Opens Its Seventh Truck Depot, and DC Metro Breaks Ground on Bus Chargers

Illinois opened a fourth NEVI funding round on July 8: $30 million with a streamlined, photo-and-map application due July 20. JCP&L's EV Driven program, which covers up to $7,000 in combined make-ready costs for a home Level 2 charger, closes July 15, two days after this issue. WattEV opened its seventh California heavy-duty truck charging depot in Fresno on June 30, adding Tesla Megawatt Charging System hardware to its freight corridor network. Alexandria, Virginia's DASH transit agency broke ground on the DC region's first en-route bus chargers, 360 kW pantograph units that recharge buses in five to twenty minutes without pulling them from service. And starting July 31, every Lucid Air gains access to more than 23,500 Tesla Superchargers through a $220 adapter.

30C's First Week Gone, New Jersey Relaunches Its EV Incentives at $30 Million, Wisconsin Opens a $40 Million NEVI Round, and Walmart Crosses 600 Charging Stalls

Section 30C has been gone for a week with no extension and no grace period. New Jersey used its July 1 fiscal year turnover to relaunch Charge Up New Jersey, its MUD charging incentive, and its Clean Fleet program at $30 million for FY27. Wisconsin DOT opened a $40 million NEVI round on July 24, targeting corridors beyond its completed highway network. Seattle City Light's Multifamily EV Charging Program closes July 9, three days from this issue. And Walmart's in-house DC fast-charging network passed 600 stalls across 17 states at the end of June.

30C Expires Tomorrow, Michigan Opens $51M NEVI Round, Electrify America's 1.9 MW Battery Hub, and Charging Hardware Hits 1,000 kW

Section 30C expires tomorrow, June 30, with no extension from Congress: the federal EV charger credit is finished. Michigan has $51 million in NEVI formula funds open for proposals through August 7, the most concrete post-30C opportunity available right now. On June 17, Electrify America opened a 20-charger station in Santa Barbara backed by a 1.9 megawatt-hour battery, its largest public battery deployment at a charging site. And Alpitronic announced June 22 that its HYC1000 dispenser now delivers 1,000 kW through a single connector, the first dispenser to cross that threshold.

8 Days Until 30C Expires, the US Hits 250,000 Public Charging Ports, Rivian Joins the Grid-Savings Pool, and a Startup Truck Charges at 400 kW

Section 30C has 8 days left; no new project can make the deadline, and any installation already underway needs to be operational and documented by June 30. The US public charging network crossed 250,000 ports this week per AFDC data, adding roughly 50,000 ports since the March milestone. On June 16, Rivian announced it is joining ChargeScape's utility-managed charging platform, letting owners enroll in off-peak programs that shift home charging away from peak demand windows for bill savings. And on June 19, startup Telo confirmed its compact MT1 electric truck will charge at 400 kW sustained using a dual split-pack architecture that avoids the performance penalty most 800V EVs face on 400V chargers.

15 Days Until 30C, New York's $45M Closes June 23, BYD Launches 1.5 MW Flash Charging in Europe, and What 'Available' Really Means at a Public Charger

Section 30C has 15 days left; if your project does not have permits and a contractor today, the credit is not realistic. New York's NYSERDA has $45 million in NEVI funding for DC fast charger installation open right now, with proposals due June 23. BYD opened its first 1.5 MW Flash Charger stations in Germany and the UK on June 9, delivering a 10%-to-70% charge in roughly five minutes. And ChargerHelp's first-time charging success rate data, at 71%, shows the gap between the uptime public networks claim and the reliability drivers actually experience.

30C Hits 22 Days, House Committee Votes to End NEVI, California Opens $55M for Fast Charging, and NACS Edges Past CCS1

Section 30C has 22 days left, and no extension is coming. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved the BUILD America 250 Act on May 22 by a 62-2 vote; the bill would eliminate NEVI going forward and impose a $130 annual EV tax, though it still needs the full House, Senate, and President. California answered the same week with $55.2M in new rebates for public DC fast chargers, most directed at underserved areas. On the infrastructure side: NACS has surpassed CCS1 in total US public DC fast-charging ports (41,300+ to 35,061), driven by non-Tesla networks. And Electrify America is dropping its prepaid account system this month, switching to direct card billing at its 1,177 US stations.

30C's Final Month Begins, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania Open Fresh State Charging Money, Philadelphia Lines Up 1,400-Plus Public Ports, and Santa Barbara Targets Multifamily

The federal 30C credit enters its final 29 days; after June 30 it drops to zero. As the federal door closes, states and cities are stepping in. Wisconsin opened a roughly $40M NEVI round for corridor charging, due July 24. Pennsylvania's $100M community charging program keeps rolling out region by region. Philadelphia lined up more than 1,400 public ports between a 435-port PositivEnergy deal and nearly 1,000 curbside Level 2 chargers. Santa Barbara Clean Energy launched Charge Up SB for multifamily and affordable housing. Tesla now runs 52% of all US DC fast-charging ports.

36 Days Left on 30C, California Drops $1B for Electric Trucks and $98.5M for Multifamily Charging, BP Pulse Enters Michigan and Utah, and Walmart Hits 50 Stations

36 days until 30C expires; new projects won't make it. California launched a $1B electric truck rebate and confirmed $98.5M for multifamily Level 1/2 charging. ChargePoint and OBE Power announced 2,500 apartment ports at zero landlord cost. BP Pulse opened first Michigan and Utah hubs with 400kW chargers. Blink and Kempower announced 14 East Coast fast-charging sites across six states. Walmart quietly hit 50 stations.

30C Expires in 43 Days, US Charging Outpaces EVs for the First Time, and Florida Starts Building a Wireless Highway

30C expires June 30 with no extension coming. US charging ports hit 242,000, outpacing EV growth for the first time on record. New York added $15M to its workplace and multifamily charger rebate program. Florida broke ground on a wireless highway charging pilot. DC fast charging crossed 72,500 public ports.

30C Expires in 50 Days, Walmart Charges Up, and Heavy-Duty Truck Charging Hits Texas

The 30C charger credit sunsets June 30 (placed in service, not just ordered). US public DC fast charging crossed 72,500 ports. Walmart has 312 stalls live with 124 more sites queued. Greenlane takes heavy-duty truck charging into Texas along the I-45 freight corridor. CALSTART launches a verified truck-charging map with grid-impact planning layers.

The 30C Credit Expires in 57 Days, IONNA Goes Big, and V2G Revenue Is Now Real

The Section 30C commercial charger tax credit has a hard June 30 sunset; equipment must be in service, not just ordered.
